Dreaming of exploring Boa Vista other than on an organised excursion? Renting a quad is the best decision you can make to experience the island at your own pace, reach places the tourist circuits never reach, and return to the hotel with memories worth far more than any buffet. But before you set off, here is everything you need to know.
Which licence do you need?
Good news: an ordinary category B (car) licence is enough to drive a 500cc quad on Boa Vista. No motorcycle licence needed, no specific prior training. We check your licence at pick-up — just remember to bring it, along with a valid ID document.
What is the minimum age?
To drive a rental quad on your own, the minimum age is 18 full years. A young passenger may ride at the back as long as an adult is driving, depending on the models chosen. For families with children, we advise you to discuss it with us when booking so we can choose the most suitable option.
What does a QuadAzul rental include?
We believe that a good rental is a rental with no nasty surprises. Here is what is included in every QuadAzul option:
What to wear?
Comfort on a quad starts before you leave. Dust, wind and sun are your three travelling companions. To make the most of your outing:
- Protective glasses — essential against sand and dust
- Covering clothes — long trousers and a light jacket, even in strong heat. The track throws up gravel.
- Closed shoes — absolutely compulsory. No flip-flops, no sandals.
- A cap or bandana under the helmet for more comfort on long outings.
What to take with you?
Boa Vista is an arid environment. Preparation makes all the difference between a memorable outing and a difficult one. Our essential tips:
- Water — at least 1.5 litres per person. Allow more for long outings or on the hottest days (May to October).
- High-protection sunscreen (SPF 50 minimum). On a quad you are exposed non-stop.
- A charged phone with our assistance number saved. A photo of your planned route is welcome.
- A light snack for the day — a few dried fruits are enough.
How to book?
Choose your date (or several days), the model and the number of quads you want.
We confirm availability by email or WhatsApp. In high season, book 48 h ahead to be sure of getting your slot.
Meet at the Casa Cesaria guest house (Sal Rei) at the agreed time. Licence check, safety briefing, off you go on the quad.
Rules to follow
Boa Vista is a protected territory in many respects. Riding a quad does not mean riding just anywhere. A few basic rules to take on board before you set off:
- Beaches and turtle nesting areas — some beaches are nature reserves. Our briefing tells you exactly which to avoid and when.
- Protected dune areas — not all dunes can be crossed. Respect the marked zones and local instructions.
- Wildlife — seabirds, reptiles and turtles are at home here. Slow down, observe, and never disturb the animals.
- Waste — nothing stays on the island. Whatever you bring, you take back.
There you go, you now hold all the cards. Renting a quad on Boa Vista with QuadAzul is simple, supervised and designed so you get the most out of it — no stress, no nasty surprises. Our team is available before, during and after your outing to answer each of your questions.
The hardest part? Choosing where you want to go first.
